Pies are my passion. I began making pies almost 30 years ago when I lived in the rural area of Woodview, Ontario. My mother-in-law at the time (Shirley) taught me the art of making pie crust and also passed down her family recipes that I still use today. The Canadian Butter Tarts and Shortbread cookies are both recipes that have stood the test of time! Coming back to Northern Michigan in the early 90's ( I grew up in Bay View), I became a registered nurse and worked for several years mostly for the American Red Cross. But, I continued to make pies and soon I was selling them in stores, doing "pie" weddings and attending the Farmers Market. I opened my own retail location that I ran for 8 years. I don't have a retail location anymore, but I am still baking pies in a licensed kitchen! It's been a lot of fun (and a lot of work) but I wouldn't want to be doing anything else!
